Musk’s plans for Grok, Apple sets WWDC date, AI’s power quest

Is this the dawn of Apple's AI era?

Hello, Starters!

As the AI landscape grows more competitive, companies are adjusting their roadmaps to seize the moment. With expectations at their highest, we are just months away from seeing what Apple is up to.

Here’s what you’ll find today:

  • Grok will be available for Premium X users

  • Apple's WWDC to be held in June

  • Nuclear fusion might power AI

  • Adobe unveils GenStudio

  • Microsoft introduces more AI features for Teams

  • And more.

Elon Musk recently announced that Grok will be rolling out for Premium X users starting next week. Previously, the famous chatbot was only available for the Premium+ tier, making this change significant as it extends Grok's capabilities to a wider audience.

This announcement follows Musk's decision to open source Grok-1, the model powering the chatbot, which leads us to believe that these actions are part of a strategy aimed at putting Grok in the spotlight and challenging the supremacy of OpenAI and ChatGPT in the AI scene.

Apple has finally revealed the date for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, setting Monday, June 10th, as the big day. As usual, the conference will unveil Apple's updates for iOS as well as some hardware announcements. What sets this conference apart from others is the ongoing reports that it will introduce the company's foray into generative AI.

A lot has been said about Apple's approach to AI, with many claiming they've been lagging behind or that they've become too cautious compared to fellow competitors like Google. However, it remains to be seen what the company has in store, as the most recent rumours claim they've been looking for partnerships for an upcoming chatbot.

In a recent podcast with Lex Fridman, OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman suggested that nuclear fusion might be the solution to sustain the energy requirements of AI more cleanly. However, until fusion becomes viable, companies must direct their efforts toward adopting more sustainable energy sources to support their AI endeavours.

The exponential growth of AI brings many advancements to our modern world. Despite this, the industry must acknowledge certain difficulties as the technology continues to develop quickly, especially regarding its impact on the environment.

👩‍🎨Adobe has announced a new AI-powered application called "GenStudio," aimed at enterprise users and brands. It features a variety of tools for creative campaigns, intended to simplify content creation.

🧑‍💻As Microsoft continues to integrate Copilot into most of its Office apps, they are leveraging it to add more AI enhancements to Teams. The upcoming features will allow users to get meeting transcripts, rewrite messages, and improve calls.
