OpenAI answers Musk, Microsoft’s Orca-Math AI, Introducing: Haiper

Orca is great at numbers.

Hello, Starters!

There are always misunderstandings that follow former agreements, especially when the agreement was about one of the most innovative technologies in our current world. It's the AI race, after all!

Here’s what you’ll find today:

  • OpenAI's response to Elon Musk's lawsuit

  • Microsoft’s Orca excels at maths

  • Haiper: A video-generation tool

  • Google limits AI-generated websites from Search

  • Snowflake teams up with Mistral

  • And more.

One of the parties has addressed a situation that has developed in the last few days. Elon Musk recently sued OpenAI, claiming that the company had drifted apart from its original nonprofit mission. OpenAI has now shared its side of the story to dismiss Musk's claims.

In a blog post on OpenAI's website, the company states that its mission is still focused on building AGI that benefits humanity. Along the way, it became apparent that a certain amount of capital was needed to continue the mission, a fact Musk accepted. He then offered a merger with Tesla or full control of OpenAI.

Additionally, OpenAI shared emails from their communications with Musk.

Microsoft's Orca AI team has unveiled Orca-Math, a model that exceeds expectations with its ability to solve maths problems. Orca is a new variant of Mistral's Mistral 7B model, and despite its compact size, it outperforms several models in the GSM8K benchmark.

A recent trend in the AI scene is the focus on smaller-sized LLMs, as they have proven to be more efficient and cost-effective. Additionally, a high level of mathematical ability is a goal that most AI companies strive for, so this is a remarkable feat for Microsoft.

Yishu Miao and Ziyu Wang, former DeepMind alumni, have introduced Haiper, a groundbreaking video-generation tool based on its yet-to-be-revealed model. Video generation has proven to be a primary focus for many startups in the AI field, following the high standards set by OpenAI's Sora.

Currently, users can visit Haiper's website and create videos based on simple text prompts. However, it is still in the early stages, so there are certain limitations; videos can only be up to 4 seconds and 2 seconds in HD.

🔎After several claims that Search is not as useful as before, Google has taken action and updated its SEO ranking algorithms to reduce spammy, low-quality results specifically crafted for search engines rather than people.

🤝Snowflake is bringing Mistral's open LLMs to its data cloud in a partnership that aims to boost the adoption of AI in enterprises by offering a reliable platform for them to build AI-powered apps.
